This photograph shows a BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0 at Bridlington station viewed from Station Road bridge, c1961. The station was opened on 6 October 1846 by the York and North Midland Railway later to become part of the North Eastern Railway. Through lines towards Filey and Scarborough are seen to the left. View looking north east, the spire of Christ Church can be seen in the distance.
