From the September/October 2011 Journal No.157 – negative number 22886 Scottish B1 4-6-0
Answer - The photograph has now been identified as showing B1 4-6-0 61103 with a down passenger train approaching Largo station, crossing Largo viaduct. ‘Thornton Junc’ on buffer beam. Largo station was situated on the North British Railway line along the Fife coast between Thornton Junction and Leuchars Junction via St Andrews. The station closed on 6 September 1965 whilst the line was closed to all traffic from Leuchars Junction to Leven East Fife Central Junction by 6 October 1969. Most of the stations have been demolished but the viaduct is intact. W.A. Camwell took the photograph. To contact the Society This site uses a Java based email generator to reduce spam.
