The photograph shows a then fairly new Cravens 3-car DMU. set at Collingham station on the Newark-Lincoln line.  Note absence of ‘whiskers’ on the front of the unit and the two character code then in use. ‘B1’ is displayed. 

The 19 Craven 3-car sets were initially delivered to Derby for use in the East Midlands area in 1957.  Similar units of the type shown were later used for the residual service on the GC main line, Nottingham-Rugby, 1966-1969.  Information suggests that these units were replaced on the Newark-Lincoln line by Swindon cross country units, the Cravens sets went elsewhere, and the centre cars were removed and presumably scrapped.  The station was on the Nottingham-Newark- Lincoln line, a former Midland Railway route.  The station was opened 4 August 1846, closed for goods traffic 27 April 1964 and became an unstaffed halt 2 November 1969.
